Product Overview
The QR-SXL Automatic Continuous Mud Content Analyzer is a high-efficiency instrument designed to determine the mud content in raw and reclaimed sand used in foundries. By automating sand washing, drying, weighing, and mud content calculation, it significantly reduces testing time while improving accuracy and consistency.
Unlike traditional siphon washing methods, which can take 3–4 hours, the continuous flushing method employed by the QR-SXL completes the process in 1–2 hours, making it highly suitable for modern foundries and laboratories.
Monitoring mud content is critical:

Wet molding sand with too high mud content (>16%) reduces permeability, increases brittleness, causes casting defects, and complicates mold removal.

Low mud content increases permeability and may reduce surface quality.

Resin sand requires especially low mud content (<0.2%) to maintain bond strength, minimize binder consumption, and reduce gas generation during casting.
Working Principle
The QR-SXL operates according to GB2684-2009-T standards, separating sand and mud based on particle size:

Particles >0.020 mm are considered sand.

Particles <0.020 mm are considered mud.
The continuous flushing principle:

Tap water enters the bottom of the sand washing bottle through a pressure-reducing valve.

Controlled water flow lifts the sand, allowing mud particles (<0.020 mm) to remain suspended and be discharged continuously.

Sand particles (>0.020 mm) settle and are retained, while the water above becomes clear, signaling completion of mud removal.
This method provides stable numerical results, short testing time, and reduced labor.
