The QR-SXL is an advanced continuous sand washing machine capable of processing two samples simultaneously. With simple water connection and proper pressure/flow control, it performs complete automated cleaning cycles including washing, sand release, drying, weighing, and mud content calculation.

Mud content measures the percentage of particles smaller than 0.020mm in casting sands. These fine particles include both clay and non-adhesive dust:
High mud content (>16%): Reduces permeability, increases casting porosity risk, makes sand brittle, complicates mold removal, and raises required moisture content.
Low mud content: Increases permeability but may degrade casting surface quality and cause sand sticking.
Resin sand applications: Particularly sensitive to mud content (must maintain <0.2%). High mud content reduces bonding strength, increases binder consumption, and raises gas generation in sand cores.
Operating in compliance with national standard GB2684-2009-T, the analyzer uses water washing to separate sand (>0.020mm) from mud (<0.020mm) based on their different suspension properties in water flow.
The continuous flushing system delivers controlled water flow to the washing bottle, where:
- Sand particles deposit at the bottom
- Mud particles remain suspended and are flushed out
- Process continues until water runs clear
