Carbon and sulfur analyzer operation and precautions
A carbon and sulfur analyzer is an instrument used to measure the carbon and sulfur content in a substance. When using a carbon and sulfur analyzer, you must observe certain operating procedures and precautions to ensure accurate test results and proper instrument operation.
I. Operation Procedure
1. Sample Preparation
Grind the sample to be tested into a powder and weigh an appropriate amount into the sample tray.
2. Instrument Debugging
Turn on the carbon and sulfur analyzer and debug it according to the instrument manual. During debugging, check that the instrument is operating properly and calibrate the zero point.
3. Sample Testing
Place the sample tray into the carbon and sulfur analyzer and operate according to the instrument manual. During the test, record the test data and ensure the accuracy of the test results.
4. Data Processing
Enter the test data into a computer or perform manual calculations to determine the carbon and sulfur content in the sample.
II. Precautions
1. Replacing the Sulfur Absorbent Solution
The sulfur absorbent solution should only be replaced under oxygen flow to prevent hazards.
2. Carbon and Sulfur Combined Measurement Sequence
The carbon and sulfur analyzer uses a carbon and sulfur combined measurement system. During the titration, sulfur dioxide absorption is performed first, followed by carbon dioxide absorption. During titration, carbon should be titrated first. The top of the absorption cup should remain blue to prevent carbon loss. Sulfur should be titrated after carbon reaches the endpoint. Wait a moment near the sulfur endpoint, then slowly titrate to the endpoint to avoid overdosage.
3. Laboratory Environment
The carbon and sulfur analyzer should be placed away from corrosive gases such as acids and alkalis, and should be protected from dust and vibration. The laboratory temperature should be between 10°C and 30°C, with a humidity of less than 75%.
4. Dealing with Back-Absorption
After analyzing the sample, partially drain the sulfur absorption solution and refill it to the original volume to prevent back-absorption of the carbon absorption solution. If back-absorption is observed, rinse thoroughly with distilled water. Otherwise, the next sulfur measurement will be inaccurate and undervalued.
5. Instrument Shutdown
Follow the prescribed procedures when shutting down the instrument. Turning off the power directly may result in data loss and irreparable damage.
